AUTHOR: Erin Latimer

GENRE: Fantasy | YA

Published by Patchwork Press on 25 August 2015

SYNOPSIS: Megan Walker’s touch has turned to ice. She can’t stop the frost, and the consequences of her first kiss are horrifying.

When her new powers attract attention, Megan finds herself caught up in an ancient war between Norse giants. One side fuelled by a mad queen’s obsession and an ancient prophecy about Ragnarök, the other by an age-old grudge. Both sides believe Megan to be something she’s not. Both sides will stop at nothing to have her.

Fire or frost. It’s an impossible decision, but she’ll have to act soon, because the storm is coming.

For the readers: can you tell us a little about FROST? Also, give us an insight into your main character. What does she do that is so special?

Sure! Frost is a Norse mythology inspired YA fantasy about a girl who accidentally freezes the first guy she kisses and discovers that her family tree is just a little bit stranger than she ever knew. I’d say freezing people is…special? I guess? Also she ends up with mad sword fighting skills at the end, so that’s fun.

Who was your favourite character to write? And who was your least favourite?

Loki and Leif were my two favorite characters to write. And I really don’t have characters I don’t enjoy writing. If I ever find that happening they get cut.

What is your favourite scene in FROST?

That’s a tough one! Probably the parts with Leif and his gang of jerk-faces, or anything with Loki in it.

What books are you currently reading or what do you have on your TBR list?

Currently: Gail Carriger’s Custard Protocol Series, and Felicia Day’s You’re Never Weird on the Internet (Almost)

What are your thoughts on good/bad reviews?

Like some writers, I believe it’s smart to have a “non-reading” policy for reviews. Reviews are for the readers, not the writer. I’ll let you know when I have the willpower to stick to my rule.

If you could have been the original author of any book, what would it have been and why?

Probably Pride and Prejudice, but it would be set in a matriarchal society. In space.  Oh, like, I’m not allowed to change the book? Okay, Neil Gaiman’s Neverwhere is the most beautiful piece of writing ever and I wish I’d written it.

What are your thoughts on writing a book series?

Well I’m all for it, since that’s most what I do. Can never write just one!

A huge thank you to Erin for participating in the interview! Be sure to get your copy of FROST!
